Kaliisa is an artist inspired by nature, color, and light. Drawn to art and photos early in life, Kaliisa grew up in the emerald green city of Eugene, Oregon. Rainy, reflective days abounded and the giant, soulful trees gave Kaliisa a strong and nourishing connection to nature. Kaliisa earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts with Honors at California College of the Arts in San Francisco, specializing in film, photography and new media.
Kaliisa takes photos and creates artistic imagery to illuminate the sweetness and wonder of life. As an artist, Kaliisa is entranced by unique color, shapes and textures, they fill her soul with energy and joy. And Kaliisa adores photographing all kinds of fantastic individuals. When taking portraits, Kaliisa strives to make her subject feel as comfortable as possible, bringing out their best, and most confident selves. Kaliisa has had the privilege of photographing talented musicians like Shannon & The Clams, Rainbow Arabia, Soviet, The Hunches, Kadja Bonet, Carisa Bianca Mellado, Kitty Clementine and Vulkano.
She has also worked with fashion stylist Wyman Chang on styling photo and video shoots with Vogue Australia, Infiniti, Mercedes-Benz, Reebok, and 'Deja Vu', a Giorgio Moroder and Sia music video.
As a photo retoucher, Kaliisa's work centers around comprehensive client communication, meticulous attention to detail, advanced image compositing, masked adjustment layers, and over 20 years of Photoshop experience. Kaliisa dedicates her time and energy to delivering superb image quality, and a fast turnaround for her clients.
Kaliisa's retouching work appears regularly in publications such as The New Yorker, The Hollywood Reporter, GQ France, New York Times Magazine, The New Republic, Oprah Magazine, Bloomberg Business Week, LA Weekly, Wired, and Men's Health Magazine. Her clients include Guess, Glam Glow, Wildfox, Mother Denim, Maine Design, Woken Coffee, Farfetch, Londubh Studio, Topsy Design, Nickelodeon and many professional photographers.
To nurture her creativity, Kaliisa visits uplifting nature destinations, often accompanied by her sweet samoyed puppy Maya. Slowing down, breathing fresh air, and enjoying the present moment is a soul recharge. Kaliisa loves music, laughter, and adventuring. She lives happily in Eugene, Oregon with her boyfriend, accomplished music composer Chaz Windus and their two cutie dogs, Isabell and Maya.
